Well, where is it now - feeling soooo left out as an Android user. And aren't we the majority?

Could you give us a timeline when Food will be available for Android?

Best wishes,

Schauplatz

Evernote dev teams work pretty much independently. And product releases are typically not pre-announced.

Certainly in 2010 you weren't the majority - http://blog.evernote...-year-in-stats/

And given Apple's numbers yesterday, I'm pretty sure you still aren't.

Pretty sad you're referring to generic Evernote stats from 2010 when we're clearly into 2012. Android users make up the largest percentage of smart phone users in the world. I suggest putting your pro-Apple stance away in a thread clearly aimed at trying to make sure Evernote Food for ANDROID happens in a timely manner. You have your own fruit-themed forum to post in, no need to troll ours. Carry on.

Metrodon is quite capable of commenting on any and all topics here, as he's been here around a long while and it a pretty knowledgeable guy. That he happens to prefer Apple products is his cross to bear, and we try not to look down on him too much for it. But he's hardly a troll, which you might not know if you haven't been around here before. Given all of that, his pro-Apple stance (not that there's anything wrong with that) doesn't really affect what Evernote does -- they say they're working on an Android product, then they probably are, and whatever we say here doesn't make them deliver it any faster.

The numbers that I quoted are the most recently published and so the only evidence we have as to how the Evernote user base is made up. There have been some mentions on the podcasts of numbers since then which have reinforced these numbers but nothing that I can quote without spending significant time to find the right quotes and I honestly couldn't care less so it's not something I will be doing.

So, not 'generic', rather more factual.

I rather doubt that half a dozen people asking for Food on Android is going to have a significant impact on Evernote's priorities, they'll release it when they have the time and resources to get it out.

It always seems to be Android users who are angry, must be dissatisfaction with their funny little devices....

Gotta say that I am quite happy with my Kindle Fire, myself -- for me it hits the sweet spot in terms of being totable (iPad-sized tables being too big) and readable (vs. iPhone-sized screens). And at about $200 cheaper, too. Apple isn't in that size or price range yet; I imagine they will be at some point and then we'll see. I'm starting to get the hang of the Evernote Android client now, not sure whether Food is for me, though.

I've got a Kindle Kindle (the e-reader thingy) - absolutely love it. would never read on my iPad - but for other media it's in a different class.

And given Apple's numbers yesterday, I'm pretty sure you still aren't.

According to the stats you linked to:
  • iOS had 1.1 million users in 2010, and growing at 223% p.a.
  • Android had 550,000, and growing at 1,570% p.a.
Given we don't have any other stats, we'll have to extrapolate using those figures.
  • iOS in 2011 would have 3.5 million, in 2012 would have only 11.3 million evernote users.
  • Android in 2011 would have 9.2 million, it 2012 would have 157 million evernote users.
So ignoring the minor discrepancy that there are more evernote android users than there are evernote users, the figures you quote show us android evernote users are clearly in the majority :)

You can try to argue the facts, but extrapolations are not facts. That 1570% figure is not a constant; it's just a measurement at a point in time, with no other context. Find some more recent statistics, and maybe there will be more meat in your argument. By the way, a classic mistake that people seem to make with growth rates is that often smaller samples have higher growth rates early on, but it can be harder and harder to sustain them as growth continues.

But regardless, you can also argue the statistics, but you're missing the larger point: Evernote has the same access to whatever statistics we all have, but they have way more insight into their own business, resources, and plans, and will act accordingly.
