When I use the Evernote button to tag something that I'm viewing in Clearly, it would be great if it gave me the chance to choose tags and a destination notebook.

Seconded. I'd use Clearly a lot more if I could add tags there when clipping. As it is, I'm discouraged from using Clearly by the knowledge that if I decide to clip something I'll have to return soon to Evernote to add tags before I forget about the clipped page.

i think people want to bump the thread, and the +1 gives them the ability to do that. it would be really nice if this forum could have a way to view the most-liked threads. that might be beyond the control of the evernote staff, but if it could be implemented, it might not only cut down on the need for pluses, but help everyone identify especially useful threads.

@Grumps: Yes, I understand about bumping, and I'd prefer it if people didn't (particularly when someone bumps their own thread). I know I'm not alone in this (i.e., we've had the discussion here before). To me, it's annoying because I usually want to look only at new content, and I get a "+1" or a "bump", with no actual content. A bump generally means to me "hey, I'm afraid that nobody read my thread, and I am going to push it back up to the top to make sure that someone does". It's the "are we there yet?" of forum life. I do like the idea of viewing by popularity; it's not perfect in the case of "like"s, since you "like" posts, not threads, but it would be an interesting option.

Workaround for now (at least in Chrome).
Click the Chrome Web Clipper icon instead of the Clearly Clipper icon.
Clips as rendered by Clearly and gives you the option assign tags, notebook, etc. when clipped.

Props to Geoff for first finding the feature.
Tested with latest beta and stable Clearly.

Yep. This is my preferred way of clipping articles. Activate Clearly then use the Chrome Web Clipper to "Clip Article."

No, no smart notebooks in Evernote. Just notebooks and stacks.

I assume when you say "Chrome Web Clipper" it's the standard Evernote Chrome webclipper? Actually i was testing this, but it renders slightly differently, and sometimes it's hard to get it to select the correct part of the Article, but Clearly does this nicely. Sad really Because I really like Clearly.

Right now I'm clipping with Clearly, and then manually adding tags in Evernote and moving it to the correct folder :/

Hopefully such a feature is on its way!

Clipping with the Web Clipper on a page in "Clearly" mode doesn't work for me. I tried that and the web page was clipped in "Unclearly" raw form. In fact, that's when I discovered the "Clip to Evernote" button in Clearly and started using it. Now I too want the ability to add tags, select a notebook, and add a comment with the Clearly "Clip to Evernote" button just like the Web Clipper does.

Can't test this properly at the moment. Behavior may have changed with the 5.4 clipper.

I mainly use clearly because the webclipper is the slowest and worst Evernote tool I know of. Clearly might not even be as fast, but in a workflow it is a much nicer experience. The ability to tag or define a notebook even seems essential though.

Progress update?

I see this thread started in December 2011, and it is quickly approaching September 2012.

At the rapid rate I am "Clearly Clipping" articles (I love this feature), I may still be backtracking to Evernote to tag hundreds of articles post-clipping.

This means handling each article twice, rather than the "once and done" flow I could have with tagging built into the Clearly Clipping experience.

Evernote team -- any encouraging words for us Clearly fans?

TIP: For anyone else regularly researching articles on PubMed, Evernote Clearly is a great way to capture your abstracts and search stream. Attached the full text article in PDF if you download it. I have a built in audit trail of my CPD, and a great way to store my research library.
