Hi. When I attempt to play back an audio note on my samsung tab the application Sound Player loads and the message 'Audio Playback Error . Sorry the player does not support this type of audio file.'

I've trawled through the market for apps that support amr format and looked high and low for a work around. I'm still pretty new so a simple explanation (if that's possible) would be appreciated.

Many thanks :)

I used Evernote to record voice a few times. When I tried playing the recordings, none of my installed media players could play the file. Winamp, the default media player of my GT-S7500 (Galaxy Ace Plus), and even the app AudioPlayer which lists AMR as a playable file could not open any of the voice recordings from Evernote.

Interestingly, even some of the voice recorders I have that saves AMRs could not play the AMR from Evernote. That's odd.

Real Player on my laptop plays the file fine though. Is there a fix for this upcoming? I've been scouring the web for a solution. This feature would have been great on the app.

Just because a post has been viewed 300 times doesn't mean 298 people know the answer & are electing to not post. Additionally, this is a user's forum. Most likely, the other 298 either don't have an answer or simply don't want to post +1. (Which many people find annoying & fairly useless.) Although EN staff does tend to read all the posts, they don't reply to every single one.

First Evernote no longer works on my iPhone and support suggests that I open it ... ON MY iPHONE ... the place where it does NOT work ... to reset things to try to get it working. Laughable! Now that I found the audio files won't play on my Samsung, and I see that this has been an issue for about a year. WHY does Evernote not seem to be getting support these days? Are they working on some new product and abandoning the current one? And what is up with the weak response that "audio files are hard to play on multiple platforms"? Have the developers not heard of standards? I mean, an MP3 file has to conform to published standards and if it does, then it WILL play on MP3 players. The same should hold true for all file standards.

In looking around here I notice a serious flaw in the thinking of the developers. They are asking for beta testers and one of the requirements is to have the latest hardware and software. So clearly, there is not a lot of understanding about configuration management, regression testing, and other such normal software development processes. If testing is limited to current hardware and software, then clearly the product will wind up being broken with each release on hardware which is NOT the latest. I don't know who the developers think the average user is, but I can assure them that I don't rush to the latest new thing each time it comes out. I am not one of those who waits on line for days before the new iPhone is released ... I simply don't care. My tools are just that ... TOOLS. Not toys.

I'm afraid that Evernote has fallen into that categoy ... a toy to play with when one is bored. I know that I can no longer rely on it. The developers have consistently refused to address the major issue of security. Now it no longer works on some iPhones and has reduced function on the Samsung Galaxy Note tablet. All of that coupled with a 1970's style user interface and I no longer see the point in it.

Oh well. It is no longer a cross platform product, but it still serves as cloud storage, even if I can't always access the data.

The first step in debugging a mobile app is to delete it, reboot the device & then reinstall.
