Since i have downloaded the latest versin of Evernote on my iPad (thanks for the RTF), the typing has become very slow. I'm not a very fast typer but the keyboard cannot keep up. This is the only application on my iPad with this issue.

Anyone experiencing the same issue?

Thanks for the feedback. I have filed a bug with QA regarding the typing issue on the ios devices. I too have experienced this on my iPhone.

Cheers.

Thanks

Same here. I found that rebooting the iPad will temporarily fix the problem.

Me too (I'm at vmworld too!). Rather than resetting the iPad you can close down Evernote by double clicking the iPad's home button, then hold down the Evernote icon until it wobbles then click the red x. I found this fixed the slow typing problem.

Same problem here, Evernote gets unusable on the iPad. Already deleted the app, reinstalled and synced. Is there a patch in progress?

Same problem. It's a deal breaker on the iPad1 - unusable. I guess it's the formatting. If I could switch it back to plain text I would.

I have the same problem, it is fine for a while but then after a while it slows down.
I am on an ipad 2. It's especially frustrating as I am writing a book on evernote.

I have a routine where i write a couple of sentences, save, sync and open the same note agian. I do this frequently.
The slowdown happens frequently. At least once per writing period (i usually quit when I get one). Hard restarting the ipad helps.

Hopefully this will help you track this bug down. Please fix this so I can use evernote efficient it.

I am completely mystified about how this got through your testing! The typing is so slow as to be almost unusable and, seeing as ipad editing is the reason I bought my subscription, the temptation to abandon evernote is very high. You need to sort this out - now - in the next day or two. This is a cat 1 bug.

The reason it got through testing may be that it's specific to a device/configuration. *shrug* It happens, unfortunately. Whether or not they can a) isolate the problem, :( find a feasible fix for it, c) make sure there are no regressions on other devices/configurations d) publish a new release and e) get it through the Apple App gatekeeper, all in a day or two is an open question. They know it's a problem, and I'm sure they'll offer a solution as soon as its possible.

Actually, I suspect, looking at the thread that it might be to do with frequent saving. I do this too. That should be straightforward to reproduce. Not so likely to be config because the evernote post early in this thread had the same issue on another ios device. In any event lets hope that some sense of urgency is engendered.

Maybe, there was just one post that seemed to involve saving, and that was fairly vague. I wouldn't rule out a configuration issue based on that; fortunately it's not up to me to reproduce. :( I'm pretty sure they'd be interested in killing this one quickly, though there are also other pressing problems (see the various threads on formatting problems).

I have the exact same problem on ipad with evernote not being able to keep up with my modest typing speed. I don't save regularly so nothing to do with that. This is a royal screwup and needs to be fixed ASAP.

Come on guys at evernote I just paid GBP31 for the premium account and the stuttering screen when scrolling or typing is making the app unusable - please get it sorted as soon as possible

just adding my $0.02 here also.

i get the slow typing. and the scrolling while typing. its clear that the custom rich text control you are using (which i was super excited about) is slowing down the experience. i can no longer just pop open evernote, press new note and start typing. it's just too slow. i'm sure you can make it faster at some point, but maybe in the mean time there is a way for users to decide not to use rich text? i miss fast evernote.

This is happening to me as well. The iPad app is now unusable on iPad2. Has Evernote acknowledged the problem?

Ok, but this is nearly 1 month ago! If you use Evernote for business,
like we do, this is really a big problem and should be fixed asap.
Hope it will happen the next days...

I like Evernote, I really do, but the company responds to bugs at an absolutely glacial rate. I have dozens of business related apps on my ipad, and some put out updates and bug fixes so frequenty it's almost annoying (but greatly appreciated).
Sometimes I think Evernote's programming staff consists of a 14 year old boy that is only allowed to program on weekends when he doesn't have a little league game.

Evernote

Where do I find the status of this bug? Is there a bug tracking system (e.g. JIRA or whatever) that I can send my input into in a more structured way?

My issues are the same: on the iPad2 I periodically (no pattern identified) have terrible performance. It is not just through using the keyboard though - although that is where the problem is most visible. When viewing all my notebooks, the scrolling speed is horrid and jittery - making the app near useless.

In terms of content - I have 225 notes, very limited audio, many many pictures, a few movies (say 10) and 1 shared notebook.

I just took a screenshot of one new document, and every step was very slow.

Is it something to do with background indexing maybe? That's kind what it feels like to me.

Other apps don't have a slow down so I doubt very much that its to do with memory limits on the device. I don't really believe the "its your configuration" angle either - what configuration? There's not a whole lot of stuff that one can configure in Evernote on the iPad.

Please address the iPad issue ASAP, its making the app very difficult to use effectively.

I have a bunch of feature / feedback additions I'd like to see, but I'll first wait on an answer here - as I feel these kinds of things get easily lost in forums - I'd rather spend my time adding information into a real bug/feature tracking system.

Thank you for your work so far, it *is* appreciated - and I look forward to silky smooth iPad experience as soon as possible.

John Clayton
