After installing on my BB Torch 9800 I took one sample "photo" and one sample "test" note. It took about a minute to upload, then tried to download. On my 3G ATT network w/ 4bars of signal strength it took 15 minutes for the photo note to download then it was only a partial pic. Well I thought I would exit the app then try again....well the photo showed up this time but only after 30 MINUTES. I thought well maybe the network on Evernote may be slow...so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and come back to it 4 hours later...MUCH BETTER....IT TOOK 20 MINUTES ....I said I will give it one more chance.....waited another hour..25 MINUTES TO DOWNLOAD...JUST ONE PICTURE MIND YOU!!

This App is a piece of *****. It looks like a great idea on the surface...but in reality, after checking the recommendations and the bulletin board I realize I am not the only one that is having this problem. I wish I checked these recommendations before I wasted 5 hours of my life that I will never have back.

Piece of *****!!!

I recently upgraded to Evernote for BB V3.2.319 because it was billed as faster. This could be such a brilliant tool, but it is just not usable. The new "faster" version is noticeably slower for even basic tasks such as search. Add a note added it about 8 times.

Please don't give up guys. The UI is great - just the performance holding it back.

Thank you all for your patience. I really appreciate that.
Be sure that I want also this app to be as fast as on the other platforms, and the team is working hard on that.
We've started a challenging development. I hope to get back to you soon with a new beta.
Stay tuned.

2 things I recommend. You can try 1 of them or both.
1. From the evernote's setting, it has a button called custom. Click on it and you can select the phone carrier. It can generate the APN parameters from your phone. Then, there is a test APN button at the bottom end. Click and it will tell you if the parameter is working or not.

2. You can change the connection type from automatic to Direct TCP (or even try out other types)? It is located at menu\setting, scroll down the screen and you will see the connection type options. ( I prefer not to choose MDS types since it has a 5 second time out)

Hope this help
Ah Fan

(p.s give it a try with a small note first and I assume that using build 3.2.328 from BlackBerry AppWorld. )

If you try the latest beta version of the app you will see that we are working on caching the notes locally and improving the performances.
The last messages on this thread won't make things going faster. Please focus on constructive feedback, we all want the same thing.

Long time EN user, but must throw in agreement on this point with others. The BB app is useless on my Bold, regardless of the beta version, Wifi/cell access, or access type settings.

I could really use a working version!

I just registered for this forum only to say that Evernote on Blackberry is the crappierst piece of software that I have ever seen in my entire life! Its utter *****! Slow, network errors, ugly interface, low functionality compared to other devices, and did I say it is SLOW?!?!? I have installed every single official release and beta release of this so called "software" and it is not getting any better! How dare you think of promoting the premium account to us Blackberry users? Looks like Evernote wants to get people away from RIM and Blackberry in making crappy software. I will not recommend this software any more to my friends, colleagues and business partners! If this "software" is your only product in your portfolio, you surely will go bankrupt! 1000%. Lucky for you, that there are enough fancy iPhone and Android users. Yes, focus on them, they have more money...

Hopeless.

Yes I know! but you have the chance of "upgrading" it. I once tried it on an account of my friend on a blackberry. It was low like hell, too. And offering an "upgrade" for a very buggy blackberry client is well....

As said earlier, the development on Blackberry is very challenging and can't be compared with other platforms such as iOS or Android unfortunately. Still, we are working hard to provide a service to Blackberry owners and I believe that the latest addition, local caching of the notes, will make the experience better.

I understand that this is still far from what you would expect, but constructive feedbacks are probably more useful to improve the software.

The client is the same whether you are a free or premium user. If you decide to upgrade your account then you get a bunch of stuff like larger note size, more monthly traffic, quicker OCR, quicker support etc.

You don't get a different client on your Blackberry.

Under settings change the connections from automatic, to a different option(BES in my case). I think this made my notes load faster. It is not quick though, but much better than before.

As slow EN is on my Blackberry, I keep it installed when something means I neeeeeeed something from EN. I will only tolerate it at that point. Usually however, I use it all the time on my computer. Mac or PC. If it is cached locally will it automagically sync with the changed notes online?
